The Panasonic Lumix has great image resolution, 16.1MP. This means the camera uses more little dots to make your images look clearer than cameras with lower resolutions. The CCD image sensor will help each picture look as bright as possible, with fine details picked up and portrayed throughout.

This digital camera has a 5X optical zoom. That means you can zoom in five times closer to your subject without moving your feet, and it will look just as clear close up as it will far away.

Since this is a standard digital camera, the automatic settings will quickly determine lighting and shutter speed based on your environment when you shoot your pictures. However, you also have the option to tinker a bit with the control and adjust shutter speed for some cool photo effects. The Lumix will always automatically stabilize itself to make up for shaky hands and shutter movement, reducing blurring in your photographs.

If you would like to dabble a bit in video recording, you can press a button and use the camcorder function on the SZ30. Each video will be recorded in 720p image quality. This is the quality needed to share video online on YouTube and Facebook without the video looking grainy or fuzzy.

While the Panasonic Lumix ZS30 has the automatic settings you need to take beautiful snapshots, it also will allow you to experiment with features and settings to give your pictures some amazing photo effects. Don't worry, the automatic default settings will reset each time you turn on the digital camera.

One function that is fun to try is the color effects. This setting lets you take pictures in black and white or sepia to give your pictures a more dramatic look. You can also choose to enhance certain colors, such as red or green. Pictures taken this way develop in black and white with just the enhanced colors included.

You can set the camera to take panorama photos and video. This setting is great for capturing breathtaking images of landscapes at your favorite vacation spots. This camera has a self-timer included, so you can set the camera and jump into the shot alone or with your friends.

One of the best settings of the Lumix ZS30 is the Wi-Fi function. This gives you more flexibility when taking and sharing your pictures. Using the Wi-Fi function, you can set the view screen to allow you see yourself in the snapshot and even take the picture right there.

If you choose to download the necessary apps, you can upload and send your images to other electronic devices, such as iPads, PCs and others' smartphones, or share on Facebook and Twitter. You can instantly send your photos to an online photo album, freeing up valuable storage space on your standard digital camera. It also has near-field communication (NFC) touch capability. Simply touch the Panasonic Lumix ZS30 to a compatible electronic device with the app on it, and your images will transfer immediately without your needing to press any buttons or using connection cords.

This digital camera weights more than most standard digital cameras; almost 8 ounces. While this is a bit bulkier than other cameras, it's also necessary to house all the incredible functions of the Lumix ZS30, including the Wi-Fi capability. It also makes it easier to hold steady to capture photographs that are not fuzzy or bumpy. Its view screen measures 3 inches, the largest available for standard digital cameras. It also is a touchscreen, so you can make some adjustments and upload images with a few finger swipes.
