It’s official: Sony has announced its newest digital SLRs to the world. They are pretty much exactly what the rumors said they would be.

The a850 has a 24.6 megapixel sensor like its a900 older brother but will only cost $2,000. The a550 will feature a 14.2 megapixel sensor and have a tilt out LCD screen. The a500 is exactly the same as the a550, only it has a 12.3 megapixel sensor. The a550 with a kit lens will set you back $1,050 while he a500 runs $850.

The one thing we noticed that was missing from the specs was anything to do with video. It seems odd that a company that has put so much emphasis on video would not include it while their competition does. But then again, it’s Sony, and Sony has never been known for giving what the consumer wants.
