Ever since Sony updated the Alpha line of DSLR cameras a few months back, photography enthusiasts have been pointing out the huge gap between the A550 and A850 in both price and megapixels. It seemed like Sony was ignoring the semi-pro photography demographic and a potential sales opportunity. Sony must have felt the same way because the company is planning to release the A750, which will fill the gap nicely.

The A750 was leaked in a Sony registration page on their site. It’s actually not all that unusual because Sony has managed to accidentally leak many of their unofficial cameras in similar ways recently. It does tell us that the A750 isn’t far from becoming official though.

All that we know for sure about the Sony A750 right now is that it will have a 14.6MP image sensor, a much more sensible choice than the 24.6MP overkill in the A850. It will probably also have a price point somewhere between the A550 and A850, so it will be a sort of compromise throughout. More detailed information should be coming at CES 2010 in January, unless Sony gets ambitious enough to announce it for the holidays.
