The Olympus E-420 an Entry level DSLR that is a bit more compact than competitors and comparable in features. While this is a slight upgrade over the older E-410, the only thing they seemed to upgrade is the addition of a wireless flash control system and a .02 inch upgrade to the LCD screen.

Standout Features

• More compact size
• Larger more comfortable Grip
• Shadow Adjustment

The compact size is not too dramatic of a difference from the E-410, however it does make enough of a difference to notice. While the camera only measures a few tenths of inches less in each category it is a noticeable and welcome change. But with all these changes the camera manages to come out heavier with its smaller size.

The grip was already firm on the predecessor they seemed to make slight improvements to make it more comfortable, which is what you would expect, right? The grip is just a tad bigger and made out of the same rubbery material. The grip manages to give you the extra security when you’re holding your small investment.

The new shadow adjustment on this camera definitely helps bring out the shadow detail and still being able to see the highlights. This is a welcome feature as all of these things only add to the quality of the pictures and the value of the camera.

Summary of Reviews

All welcomed the new renovation to make the camera smaller and more compact, even though it turned out heavier. Every review seemed to praise the high detail of the pictures they had taken and the quality of the kit lens that Olympus paired with the camera. There were very few complaints about the camera and

Summary

The Olympus E-420 is a very solid and comfortable camera that has the features to make it a great choice, for an entry-level DSLR. It was particularly good to see the quality of the kit lens, as that is not always the case with kit lenses. The Olympus E-420 is a great choice for anyone looking for a budget DLSR.

The camera offers a great deal of options to customise your images, and the camera is available with an excellent range of Zuiko Digital ED lenses. In fact, the only thing the camera is missing is optical image stabilisation.

Hailed as the world's smallest and lightest DSLR, the Olympus E-420 replaces the E-410 in the Olympus Four-Thirds system line-up. With 10 million effective pixels, from a total of 11.8 million, it seems like Olympus may have hit a bottleneck with the four

Despite its small dimensions the camera is surprisingly well specified; even more so when considering its price point. You won't find live view and the E-420's level of customization on other manufacturers' entry level offerings (at least not if they're i
