The Olympus E-420 an Entry level DSLR that is a bit more compact than competitors and comparable in features. While this is a slight upgrade over the older E-410, the only thing they seemed to upgrade is the addition of a wireless flash control system and a .02 inch upgrade to the LCD screen.

The compact size is not too dramatic of a difference from the E-410, however it does make enough of a difference to notice. While the camera only measures a few tenths of inches less in each category it is a noticeable and welcome change. But with all these changes the camera manages to come out heavier with its smaller size.
The grip was already firm on the predecessor they seemed to make slight improvements to make it more comfortable, which is what you would expect, right? The grip is just a tad bigger and made out of the same rubbery material. The grip manages to give you the extra security when you’re holding your small investment.
The new shadow adjustment on this camera definitely helps bring out the shadow detail and still being able to see the highlights. This is a welcome feature as all of these things only add to the quality of the pictures and the value of the camera.
