Remember The Matrix? You know that movie with Keanu Reeves that showed us what the world would look like if we could freeze time and switch angles? Picture that same movie making magic at this year's MTV Movie Awards. Nikon is the official sponsor for this year's awards and as such is setting up 50 D700 cameras along the red carpet.

So now we will be able to see our favorite celebs in all their 360 degree glory on the red carpet. Now we will never have to wonder again what the back of Jennifer Lopez's outfit really looked like. Simply turn on the Matrix switch, swallow the red pill, and voila! You have an instant JLo Matrix.

I guess this is one way to spice up an otherwise boring event. If you want to see the images captured by the cameras tune into MTV at 8 PM EDT on May 30. You just never know what crazy antics these 360 matrix cameras will capture. Another wardrobe malfunction perhaps?

The technology is actually pretty simple, you can see a video of the setup and another video of the results to get an idea of how this will work.
