Canon Digital Rebel XSi

For years Canon’s reputation in the DSLR market has been top notch. The Digital Rebel XSi continues the tradition of building quality, reliable cameras.

The Canon Digital Rebel XSi, or EOS 450D, brings many high end features to a compact digital SLR chassis.

Standout features

• 12 megapixels

• 3 inch LCD monitor

• 3.5 frames per second shooting

• Live View

• 14 bit processing

Features

With image resolutions of up to 12 megapixels, the Canon Digital Rebel XSi gives you the resolution you need to take poster size images. The 12 megapixels provide an exceptionally large amount of detail on all your images. Its 12 megapixels also make photo editing easier and enlarging cropped photos is no longer a problem.

With its 3 inch LCD monitor, there is enough room to see all the important functions of your camera. The large screen also helps you decide which photos are keepers and which ones get deleted. The screen on the 450D is also 50 percent brighter than that of the 400D.

Get the perfect shot with continuous shooting speeds up to 3.5 fps. This is perfect for sporting events or anything that is moving fast. The DIGIC III buffer can hold up to 53 JPGs, or 6 in RAW format without interruption.

The Live View feature lets you use the LCD screen as your viewfinder. Sometimes you just don’t want to have to look through the viewfinder. No problem. Just turn on the Live View mode and it functions just like a convention digital camera.

The 14 bit DIGIC III processing engine processes images quickly and reduces noise, leaving you with professional quality results.

The Canon Digital Rebel XSi employs Canon’s EOS integrated cleaning system to keep dust off the sensor and mirror. There is nothing worse than having your image ruined by dust that shows up in your photo.

Summary of reviews

The photo quality alone was enough for the expert reviewers to recommend this camera. The speed was also noticeably faster than other cameras in the same class. The experts didn’t like its limited ISO settings though, but overall felt this was a great camera.

Consumers were attracted to this camera for its image quality. The ease of use helped even first time DSLR users take better photos than anticipated. The live view also helped a number of users to make the transition from point and shoot digital photography to DSLR photography as this feature mimics the ease of use of a point and shoot.

Summary

The Canon Digital Rebel XSi is an excellent camera for those looking to jump into the DSLR world. It offers excellent performance at an attractive price.

After last year's disappointing Rebel XTi --a solid camera--but one that didn't improve significantly over its predecessor, the Canon EOS Rebel XSi comes as a welcome change, and a model worthy of upgrading from your old Rebel XT . It may have a typical,
