Sony announced two new cameras today: the DSC-WX1 and DSC-TX1. The two new cameras are very similar but totally different from one another.

The WX1 features Sony’s high end G series lens with a 5x optical zoom. The newest feature is Sony’s Twilight mode (named after the popular, yet not entertaining movie perhaps) which automatically combines multiple exposure shots to produce one good one. The camera also shoots 720p video at 30 fps and has a 2.7 LCD screen. The WX1 will cost $350 and ship in October.

The TX1 shares the same Exmor R CMOS sensor as the WX1 but lacks the G series lens and only has 4x optical zoom. It makes up for this with the addition of a slick touch screen interface and a body that is available in many bright colors. The TX1 will cost $380 and be available in September.
