Whether you’re searching for a gift for your teenager’s birthday or your college student’s going-away present, the Easyshare M583 from Kodak is a good camera to consider. Every social teen needs a good camera, and this compact digital camera is small, functional and attractive. Whether you give it as a gift or use it for yourself, the Easyshare M583 is a good camera for important events, date nights, and fun with friends and family.
This camera has a sleek, modern appearance and comes in black, red, blue, pink and purple. The lens is quite large and can capture images from wide angles. The camera itself is small, compact and easy to carry in a purse or pocket. We were pleased with the details on the 3-inch display screen and found that the control buttons on the back are easy to reach with your thumbs while you are holding the camera up.
With 14 megapixels and an 8x wide-angle optical zoom, we thought the Easyshare M583 would function flawlessly and produce beautiful photos. We were quite surprised at how many photos came out blurry, even with the autofocus and image stabilizer. While the pictures that were not blurry looked great, there were just too many blurry images to forgive.
Like some of our top picks, the Easyshare M583 features a quick web uploading function. But unlike the other cameras, this one allows you to share your photos and videos on more than two websites. As well as Facebook and YouTube, you can also automatically post your photos to Flickr, Twitter, Orkut, Yandex or Kaixin001. And you can easily send your photos as an email or transfer them to the Kodak Pulse digital photo frame.
We were also pleased with the Easyshare M583’s face detection and recognition features. It can recognize up to 20 different pre-tagged faces, though it can only detect up to five faces in any one photo.
The Easyshare M583 comes with a rechargeable battery and 64 megabytes of internal memory. As we researched the specifications of this digital camera, however, we could not find details for the battery life or the number of pictures the camera can take on a single battery charge.
We were very pleased with the help Kodak offers its customers. You can contact customer support through phone, email and live chat. The live chat support was especially helpful, and we were pleased with the speed at which the customer service representatives responded to our questions.
Although the product information pages are quite thorough, there are also informative FAQs that you can browse to find the answers to common questions. Kodak also posts the user manuals for this camera and many of its other products online, which is convenient and easy to access.
Kodak had the right idea with the Easyshare M583, but this camera has a few technical problems. We enjoy the web uploading feature and fun design, but we wish the image stabilizer was more effective.
