Olympus E-P2 Is Official, Better Than the E-P1 as Expected
The Olympus E-P1 micro four thirds camera wowed photography enthusiasts as much for its retro look as for the pictures it could take. It wasn’t perfect, though, and Olympus promised to address several issues the E-P1 had. Now Olympus has officially announced the E-P2, and sure enough, many of the problems are gone. Unfortunately, that makes the E-P2 less of an improvement because it’s basically what the E-P1 should have been.
Besides being painted black, the E-P2 is very similar to its predecessor. Same basic design, same 12.3MP image sensor and no integrated flash. What’s new is a viewfinder, the VF-2 Electronic View Finder, that plugs into a new port on the backside...
Sony Leaks the 14MP Alpha A750 DSLR
Ever since Sony updated the Alpha line of DSLR cameras a few months back, photography enthusiasts have been pointing out the huge gap between the A550 and A850 in both price and megapixels. It seemed like Sony was ignoring the semi-pro photography demographic and a potential sales opportunity. Sony must have felt the same way because the company is planning to release the A750, which will fill the gap nicely.
The A750 was leaked in a Sony registration page on their site. It’s actually not all that unusual because Sony has managed to accidentally leak many of their unofficial cameras in similar ways recently. It does tell us that the A750 isn’t far from becoming official...
New Panasonic GF-1 Resembles E-P1, Adds Flash
It seems Panasonic liked Olympus’s E-P1 enough to make one of their own. The Lumix GF1 appears to be the same size as the E-P1 and adds a built in flash and new lenses.
The GF1 will shoot 12.1 megapixels, record 720p video with HDMI out and cost $900. Of course the biggest difference between the two is the flash. The flash for the E-P1 costs $200 and makes it somewhat less portable. It is nice to see it integrated into the GF1.
The GF1 also has a higher resolution screen, which is nice since you don't have the option of viewing your subjects through a viewfinder.
The new GF1 should be available in October for $900.

Canon EOS 7D Pics and Specs Leaked
You may have been hearing rumors about an EOS 7D coming from Canon, and if that excites you, or you really really need 18MP in your DSLR, we’ve got good news for you. The Canon EOS 7D appears to be real and we’ve got the rundown on specs, too.
You read that right, this thing has some serious pixel overkill. The EOS 7D can shoot 18MP at up to 8 frames per second and with an ISOP from 100 to 6400. And then there’s also a special 12800 ISO mode, you know, for those extreme cases.
Also included is a 3-inch LCD screen (920,000 dot resolution), dual DIGIC 4 processors, and a viewfinder with a built-in digital level. The leak also mentioned the 7D would have the HD video...
Sony Makes Official New Line of Cameras
It’s official: Sony has announced its newest digital SLRs to the world. They are pretty much exactly what the rumors said they would be.
The a850 has a 24.6 megapixel sensor like its a900 older brother but will only cost $2,000. The a550 will feature a 14.2 megapixel sensor and have a tilt out LCD screen. The a500 is exactly the same as the a550, only it has a 12.3 megapixel sensor. The a550 with a kit lens will set you back $1,050 while he a500 runs $850.
The one thing we noticed that was missing from the specs was anything to do with video. It seems odd that a company that has put so much emphasis on video would not include it while their competition does. But then again,...
